We are building a global company for the future of enterprise automation, in which developers will be more productive than ever, and companies will have full control of their entire automation cycle, from understanding automation opportunities to implementing automations that can drastically improve efficiency.
We are challenging billion-dollar companies with an open-source approach, with a core belief that automation projects are software projects and should be delivered by developers.
The culture of a startup is its main engine, bringing people closer together and uniting them as a team around a mission. Culture is a dynamic entity that evolves, springing from the founders' vision for the future and the organization they aim to build. Culture grows and shifts alongside the startup, vibrant and ever-changing.
In our case, this document evolved based on critical behaviors in past experiences here at BotCity. We've also identified behaviors essential for the environment we envision for BotCity's future. Combine this with our dream work environment, giving rise to this culture code we've crafted. This document was updated a few times with new inputs from the team as we keep growing.
The best way to explain culture is to imagine BotCity as a person. We asked ourselves this question and identified the personality traits of the BotCity persona, divided into our five core values:
We translated each of these personality traits of the BotCity persona into concrete actions and behaviors. Feel free to dive deep into our culture.
We (Lorhan Caproni and Gabriel Archanjo) started BotCity in Brazil in 2018 as an automation services provider company. As our contracts grew, we started developing our products for our own use, solving our own pains in building, managing, and scaling automations. After some time, we decided to stop providing services (trusting our partners to implement them for us), and focus on building a new generation group of products for RPA and Hyperautomation.

In 2021, after this decision, Hugo Slepicka joined us as the founding team, starting our US operations from the Bay Area. After some months, we got funded by Softbank (Upload Ventures), Astella, Alexia, and Norte Ventures, with angel investors such as Rod Johnson (Spring Framework Creator), Directors and Partners from companies such as NetApp, Quinto Andar, and McKinsey, building a network of investors from Silicon Valley, Latin America, Europe, Australia and South of Asia.
By the end of 2023, we were invited to join Y Combinator, the biggest accelerator in the world (where companies such as GitLab, CoinBase, Airbnb, Reddit, Stripe, and Brex started), which fueled our global expansion. As a result of that growth, we were selected by Endeavor Scale Up, one of the fastest Brazilian-origin companies in 2023.
