About our Culture
The culture of a startup is its main engine, bringing people closer together and uniting them as a team around a mission. Culture is a dynamic entity that evolves, springing from the founders' vision for the future and the organization they aim to build. Culture grows and shifts alongside the startup, vibrant and ever-changing.
In our case, this document evolved based on critical behaviors in past experiences here at BotCity. We've also identified behaviors essential for the environment we envision for BotCity's future. Combine this with our dream work environment, giving rise to this culture code we've crafted. This document was updated a few times with new inputs from the team as we keep growing.
The best way to explain culture is to imagine BotCity as a person. We asked ourselves this question and identified the personality traits of the BotCity persona, divided into our five core values:
- Collaborative Humbleness
- Methodical Curiosity
- Executive Autonomy
- Fair Play and Diversity
- Daring Resilience
Collaborative Humbleness
- Knows how to help others and ask for help (and voice insecurities).
- Don't treat people differently based on their rank or position in the company.
- Has empathy for different viewpoints, listens effectively, and articulates ideas.
- Doesn't select tasks based on perceived prestige. Whether taking out the trash or shaping strategy, we do what's necessary.
- Stands up for their ideas but isn't stubborn. We appreciate those who champion their thoughts. However, stubbornly sticking to an idea when evidence suggests a better way can indicate a lack of humility.
- Never let a colleague fail. Everyone must raise the bar for each other. Respectful and sincere feedback (focused on the result, not the deliverer) helps create an unbeatable team.
